Digital technology and Organizational Transformation

Presentation

The “Numerics and Organizational Transformation” axis comprises 40 members and around ten PhD students, all specialists in information systems, innovation, economics, logistics and marketing. Today's businesses face new challenges, with the massive use of information and communication technologies [ICT], the emergence of new media, and waves of major innovations. This implies that they are developing new strategies and new intra- and inter-firm organizational forms. The aim of this axis is to build fundamental and actionable knowledge on the consequences of these digital practices on organizations.

The research teams in this area focus on different levels of analysis.

Firstly, the evolution of entrepreneurial territories, business clusters and partnership strategies are studied to understand how innovations emerge, then how they are disseminated and scaled up. Secondly, researchers analyze the value networks created by organizations to optimize their information systems architecture for continuous communication with their users (e-health networks, nutritional alliance...). In addition, digital technology is exposing these networks of organizations to issues of IT security, strong identification of its members (blockchain), storage (cloud-computing), and the reconfiguration of supply chains.

Last but not least, a group of researchers in this area are observing the digital uses of individuals (consumers, patients, citizens or employees), and more specifically the development of connected objects (IoT).
